YouTube November Trends – Video Transcript
As highlighted in the YouTube Culture and Trends Report from the past month, I’ve analysed all the exciting trends and viral video ideas for you, so you don’t have to.
Before we jump in, make sure to hit subscribe, ring that bell to stay tuned. Let’s delve into these exciting video trends and see how they can help you grow your YouTube channel.
Our first trend is stop motion. This fascinating animation style involves taking a series of photos of objects and moving them slightly between each shot.
When these images are played in sequence, they create the illusion of motion. It’s a meticulous and creative process. Creators are crafting stop motion videos using everyday materials to tell engaging stories with common household items, toys, paper, and clay.
An inspiring example is Colleen Makeupp, who ingeniously uses makeup in her stop motion videos. Look at that. Just so cool.
Stop motion is a lot of work, but you can use this as a way to do things differently and to stand out. If you’re a DIY or craft tutorial channel, you can use stop motion to show the step-by-step construction of a piece of jewellery or design, with each step shown as a frame in the stop motion sequence.
For product reviews and demonstrations, you could use stop motion to show how a gadget is assembled or operates piece by piece. Rather than the standard unboxing video, you could also use stop motion to make the product unbox itself, adding a fun twist to the popular video format, which leads me to trend number two, unboxing.
Unboxing videos are where creators share the thrill of opening packages for the first time.
It’s about capturing that first magical moment of discovery, from the initial glimpse of the packaging to exploring the content, complete with the creator’s spontaneous reactions and thoughts.
This trend saw a resurgence in November, riding the wave of excitement from Amazon Prime Day and building up to the Black Friday and Christmas shopping frenzy.
Now, unboxing isn’t just limited to tech channels, although this is very common with the unboxing of the latest cameras, smartphones, microphones, and laptops.
Unboxing has a place in every niche. If you’re a DIY or craft channel, unboxing new tools, materials, or craft kits can be both informative and inspiring for your viewers who share similar hobbies.
Creators in the beauty and fashion niche can unbox makeup and products offering their first impressions and creating looks or outfits on the spot.
You can use it as a way to lead into a book review if you’re in the book review, book talk, bookstagram space, adding an extra layer of anticipation and context to your literary discussions.
Extending beyond just unboxing, creators can also test the products in the same video, giving viewers a more comprehensive overview of the products features and performance.
Our third trend takes us to the vibrant, tasty world of street food. This video trend sees creators take us on street food tours around the world, and viewers get to enjoy the food and eating experience.
This may feel a little bit limited if you’re not in the food niche, but think of incorporating food-style videos as part of your B-roll. It’s a storytelling tool.
Street videos can add an authentic, vibrant layer to your content, making it more relatable and engaging no matter which niche you’re in. Tech channels can test out gadgets like portable cameras or mobile phones in the dynamic and often challenging lighting and sound conditions of street food environments.
Book reviewers and authors can share street food experiences that relate to the settings or cultures featured in the books you discuss. DIY and craft channels can draw inspiration from street food aesthetics for your projects or explore the craftmanship of street food stores and tools.
Fashion and beauty influencers can connect your audience by sharing street food experiences in different cities while also discussing local trends and styles. Business channels can blend street food scenes into your videos, providing a view of something relatable and engaging in your life.
Now, my personal favourite trend, cosy culture. Stemming from the video trend of Cosy gaming, at its core, Cosy gaming is all about stress-free gaming, gaming that evokes feelings of warmth, comfort, and safety for the players.
They’re designed to be soothing and calming and often focus on nurturing relationships, growing natural environments, and engaging in relaxing activities.
For business channels looking to embrace the cosy culture trend, you can look to create a cosy culture business series in a setting that feels like a cosy home office with warm lighting, a comfortable chair, and a cup of tea or coffee in hand.
Instead of having a typical high energy, aggressive marketing tactic video, your videos can focus more on the gentle, sustainable growth strategies and personal development that cosy culture embraces.
Beauty creators can incorporate cosy culture into beauty routines by focusing on self-care and relaxation. This can include spa days at home, skincare routines for relaxation, or makeup tutorials that emphasise natural soft looks.
Wellness and self-care creators can focus on cosy content about mental health, mindfulness, and self-care routines. These perfectly align with cosy culture. Gentle yoga sessions, guided meditations, and discussions about mental wellness can reinforce the feeling of comfort and safety.
In essence, cosy culture and content creation is about fostering a sense of peace, comfort, and contentment. It’s an invitation to slow down, savour the moment, and enjoy the simple pleasures of life, offering viewers a serene and comforting escape.
