[Thriving Creator Podcast] Episode 36: Where Do You Even Begin?

Where do you even begin

Where do I start with YouTube? Where do I even begin? It can feel like a big scary mountain to climb and today we’re diving into the key steps to creating and nurturing a thriving youtube channel. Let’s dive in.

Episode 36: Where Do You Even Begin? – Podcast Transcript

Hey, Thrivers. I’m Sara Nguyen, creator of the Thriving Creator Academy, and I’m here to help you go from stuck and overwhelmed to becoming a confident, profitable, and thriving YouTube creator. Join me here each week for honest conversations about what it really takes to be a successful YouTube creator.

Without compromising your creativity, sacrificing cheeky drinks with the people you love or downtime for yourself. You’ll hear about the hard lessons I’ve gone through so you can avoid making the same slow and costly mistakes on your journey.

As well as my secret weapons to help you dig deep and do the work it takes. I’m honoured and grateful to have this opportunity to share this together with you. Right here, on the Thriving Creator Podcast. I’m glad you’re here. Let’s get started.

I want to have a YouTube channel that I’m proud of, and that helps me thrive. I hear this from so many people who want to start their own YouTube channels, especially those who are coaches, creators, and consultants.

The desire to have YouTube as a platform to reach their audience and grow their business is real. But where do you start when it comes to creating a thriving YouTube channel? How do you make it all work?

Let’s break down the steps. Step one, get committed. Get your systems in place. Many students often ask me, how do you make time? And like many of my students, you may have big commitments, like a job, taking care of family members or things that require your time and focus that are not YouTube.

And sometimes it may feel like there just isn’t enough time. But if you want to leverage YouTube, you need to put systems in place that help you carve more time to focus on it.

I found that when I got committed to the platform and implemented a system, that was when I was able to make continuous small improvements. It was these small improvements that accumulated and eventually moved the needle.

Step two. Next, I looked for ways I could get my YouTube system working for me. This meant designing a business that took a view from YouTube into my sales mechanism. And having something to offer that they could buy. Once they were in, I could nurture and sell.

And the more content I created, the more people I can reach. Let me break that down, because this part is really important. I had a strategy to take people from viewers on YouTube to be buyers of what I had to sell.

I had a system that automated part of this process. I automated a way to help people. I also had an automated way to get back some time so I could spend half of my extra time with my family and the other half looking for more ways to make a big impact with my people.

If you’re clear on your mission, your next step is to get your YouTube framework in place. Are there more steps after this? Of course there are. YouTube framework will give you the ability to leverage your YouTube videos and sell again and again, and again.

Not to mention, if you are already on YouTube and you don’t have a proper system in place, you’re probably making more work for yourself by duplicating parts of the video creation process that don’t need to be double handled.

You’re probably losing time doing YouTube inefficiently. You’re probably not leveraging your viewers and your audience as much as you could be. You’re probably not making the amount of sales you could be.

You’re probably not giving yourself the financial safety net so you can step away from the computer while still making sales. And you’re probably losing loads of money, leaving it on the table without a holistic view of YouTube.

Need I say more? If you want help with getting committed to YouTube and have it work for you, my YouTube master class is designed to help guide you through the four-step plan to harness the power of this framework.

Together, let’s navigate the YouTube labyrinth and transform your passion into a profitable channel. Ready to jump in? Register for the masterclass at thrivingcreatormasterclass.com. No more missed opportunities. The time is now. I’ll see you in the masterclass.

🖼️ Open the AI Assistant from the Adobe Express homepage and ask for a YouTube thumbnail
📸 Give it three things: a photo of you, a few words for the text, and what the video is actually about
💬 The context is what stops you getting a generic design
✨ Pick one of the starting options, or keep prompting until one is close
✏️ Tweak the text right there, remove anything you don't want, and download it
🎨 Or open it in the editor and describe the change: a different outfit colour, an extra element, and it styles them to match the design
🧩 Everything is on layers, so it stays easy to edit

Here's how I do it:
🐉 I uploaded a dragon I liked and asked Firefly for an image seen through the rider's eyes
🎬 In Generate video, that picture became the first frame
⚙️ I chose Kling 3.0 Omni, turned on multi-shot and set it to 15 seconds
✍️ I wrote what happens in each shot and hit generate
🔁 For a longer flight I ran it a second time, starting from the last frame of the first, with new shots (that is why there are six shots below)

Finding music for a video is the job most of us leave until last, when we are tired and just want it done. So we scroll a library for twenty minutes, settle for something close enough, and hope the licence covers us. Here the track gets written to fit the video instead, and the licence question is already answered.
What happens in this one:
🎬 I drop my dragon video straight into Adobe Firefly
✍️ Adobe Firefly writes the music prompt for me, and I pick the vibe, style and details
🎵 It watches the video and gives me four tracks matched to the story to choose from
🐉 Sound effects come from the same place: I typed "gentle dragon huff" and hit generate

Most caption tools give you one look and that is the end of the conversation. You get whatever the app hands you, and every video you post ends up wearing someone else's font. The generated style is a great starting point, it gets you most of the way in one tap, but it is a starting point and not the finish. Changing the font, the size and the colours takes seconds, and it is the difference between captions that sit on your video and captions that belong to it.
How to add captions to your video:
🎬 Upload your video, then hit the CC icon at the top of the timeline
🌐 Pick your language and tap Generate, and it transcribes the whole thing
✨ Grab a caption style, one tap gets you most of the way there
🎨 Then make it yours: swap the font, size it how you want, colours to match your brand
✏️ If a word came out wrong, fix the text and it updates on the video straight away
No second app, no extra subscription, and it is free to try.

Most people I talk to want to learn this stuff and have no idea where to begin. The courses are hands-on, they are built for people starting from nothing, and they sit on platforms you already have an account on. You pick one, you go at your own pace, and at the end there is something you can show for it.

Every messy idea I have for my business now goes o Every messy idea I have for my business now goes onto one Adobe Firefly board: random notes, dragon images, colour palettes.
Here is how that pile turns into a logo, a banner, a storyboard and a finished video, without ever leaving the board.
Thanks to Adobe Firefly for sponsoring this video. #AdobeFireflyAmbassadors #Ad #FireflyBoards
Most advice about starting a brand assumes you are staring at a blank page. Running a business is the opposite problem. You have far too many ideas, all of them half formed, scattered across your notes app and your camera roll, and none of them finished. A board is where they all land in one place and start turning into something.
What happens in this one:
🐉 Everything goes on the board, notes, reference images, colour palettes
🎨 Presets shape the mess, and the dragon images become logo options
🖼️ The logo becomes a banner, finished off in Adobe Express
🎬 The shots get generated as images and laid out into a storyboard
▶️ Those same images become actual video clips, right there on the board
