Call me master chef Sara, because I have a three ingredient recipe to help your YouTube channel flourish this year and for years to come. I’ve tinkered and tweaked this recipe to perfection, saving you the hassle of trial and error.
Trust me, it’s tried, tested and repeat worthy. So the recipe for a YouTube channel that thrives is… part one, you need a tried, tested and true video workflow so you know exactly how to get your video planned, recorded, edited, published, and promoted.
It seems logical. Right? Well, so many YouTube creators fail to map out their entire video process clearly so that they can create videos effortlessly for their channel, and many people wing it. The horror!
So here’s what I do. I have a checklist for researching every video idea so that I don’t waste my time with the video that my audience doesn’t want and isn’t searching for. I also have a set of templates for writing my YouTube video scripts.
So I’m not reinventing the wheel each time. The content is new, but the format for the video is not, this makes it faster and easier to get the video script done. I have a list of all the equipment I need to set up for batch recording.
I have a style guide on how my videos will look, with my branding, any animations, text, stock footage, and music spelt out. This helps my video editor stay consistent. And when I edit my own videos, it keeps me focused and consistent too.
I also have a document with all the places to promote my YouTube video after I’ve published it. I’ve noticed that with my systems, they change over time and grow as my YouTube channel grow as well.
So reviewing these and making updates as needed is a good thing. The second thing you need in the recipe is people that you can trust to help you with your YouTube channel. This isn’t a one woman show.
Sometimes people see my subscriber count and think that I’m crushing it. And the truth is I don’t do everything myself for my YouTube channel. I don’t have the mental bandwidth or the time to.
I have to work smart and leverage outsourcing and pay tools that make life easier for me. Plus, I had them all working as a system. I also leverage other people’s strengths so I can focus on my strengths to grow the channel.
You don’t have to do this alone. In fact, it really is better if you don’t. Find amazing people who can do the parts of the YouTube process for you, who you trust to do it well. This will help take the workload off your tired shoulders.
The third part of the recipe is persistence. Building your YouTube channel is a lot like climbing a mountain, like a really big mountain. One where you will stumble, fall and maybe encounter some mountain dragons.
You might get lost and you need to ask for help. You might realise you were going in the wrong direction for a while and you need to take another route, but each step, each realisation, each stumble is part of the process and it is so worth it.
Building a thriving, flourishing YouTube channel takes some serious tenacity and determination. It does not happen overnight. With the three key ingredients; good video processes, good people and persistence.
You can, and you will create a YouTube channel that brings in the money and the life that you want. Be intentional with everything, with your video processes, with who you hire, with your tried and true tested systems.
All of it. The biggest shift in my YouTube growth and business growth happened when I stopped treating YouTube like a hobby and took it seriously. This meant treating it like a real business, having structure and systems in place to grow and scale my efforts.
If it was possible for me, it’s possible for you too. I believe in you and the magic you’re about to cook up on your channel. Keep creating. Keep tweaking. Most importantly, keep believing in yourself and the amazing content you produce. You’ve got this, my friend.
The episode is over, but it doesn’t have to end here. If you’d like to have your YouTube channel running like a perfectly synchronized clock, attracting a growing audience and bringing in a steady income for you.
