The Logitech C920 Webcam was first released back in January 2012, which is kind of like dog years in the world of tech, but it still is an extremely popular webcam. It plugs into the USB port of your PC or Mac.
At the time of this recording, it’s about $50 US dollars on Amazon, making it a relatively cheap webcam for recording Full HD 1080p video on your webcam. The Logitech C920 has this folding arm that allows you to attach it to the top of your computer or your laptop easily.
It also has a rubber grip so that it holds in place and it doesn’t slip. You’re also able to adjust the angle of the webcam by tilting it slightly back and forth like that as well. The webcam also has built-in dual stereo microphones with automatic noise reduction.
It also has automatic low light correction as well. There’s a quarter inch thread at the bottom of the webcam that allows you to attach it to a standard tripod so you can get some extra height if you needed to. So all of these combined together, makes the Logitech C920 a great little webcam for recording HD footage for live streaming or for online video. Let’s have a look at some comparative footage now.
So here’s what it looks like and sounds like using the inbuilt camera and the inbuilt microphone of my MacBook. So as you can see, the sound isn’t really amazing and the video in all honesty is not too bad, but it could be better.
So here’s what it looks like and sounds like using the Logitech C920 webcam, and also the microphone of the webcam as well. As you can see, the quality of the video is much better on the webcam than it was from my computer’s inbuilt webcam and the sound is different as well.
I typically would use an external microphone as opposed to a device’s microphone and I would use the RØDE NT-USB microphone to get crisper quality sound. But here’s the video, so you can compare the video quality and the sound quality of the webcam. So here is some footage shot in low light using the inbuilt camera of my computer, so you can see what it looks like without any low light correction.
And here’s what it looks like using the Logitech C920 in low light, utilizing the low light correction of the webcam.
So there you have it, my review and test of the Logitech C920 Webcam, arguably one of the best little webcams for recording online video.
