Logitech Brio 4k Webcam Review – Video Transcript

Hey, I’m Sara Nguyen, on this channel, I make tech and social media easier for awesome entrepreneurs like yourself. If you’re new to this channel, consider subscribing for all of the latest product reviews, tips and tutorials.

You can also check out the description for links to everything mentioned in this video. Logitech announced the BRIO 4K in February 2017, and it was one of the first mass-market 4K webcams.

The big questions are, is the Logitech BRIO 4K worth the premium price? And is it really the best 4K webcam for your Mac or PC?

Let’s start off with an overview of the specs of the Logitech BRIO.

The BRIO is capable of video conferencing, recording and streaming at up to 4K Ultra HD resolution.

So you can get resolution at 4K Ultra HD at 30 frames per second or 1080p Full HD at 30 or 60 frames per second.

You can also get 720p HD at 30, 60, or 90 frames per second.

It’s powered by a USB connection, so you can simply plug the webcam into your computer, and you’re good to go. You need to have USB 3.0 for 4K video output.

The case of the BRIO is a nice solid metal case. The arm of the BRIO is plastic with a rubber grip on the top and the base of the mount, so it won’t slip when you attach the BRIO to your computer.

There’s a quarter inch thread to connect it to a tripod. If you wriggle the mount, it will come off like this and expose the quarter thread.

It did make me very nervous doing this for the first time. I thought I was going to break my webcam and luckily I didn’t. The BRIO has built-in autofocus and 5X zoom in Full HD so you can zoom in to frame your scene and still get Full HD quality video without any blur.

The BRIO comes with automatic light correction that adjusts your image quality by compensating for the light levels in your room while still providing you with HDR clear images.

There are two built-in omnidirectional microphones with noise cancellation to help filter out background noise.

While these specs all sound great, how well does the webcam actually perform? Let’s find out.

So here’s what it looks like and sounds like using the inbuilt webcam and the inbuilt microphone of my computer.

So here’s what it looks like and sounds like using the Logitech BRIO 4K camera and the inbuilt microphone of the cam as well.

At the moment, I’ve just got the ceiling light of the room on. I haven’t got any extra lighting, and I haven’t adjusted any other settings at this stage either. I think the colour balance is pretty good and my face looks pretty well exposed, given that I haven’t got any additional lighting.

A lot of webcams really struggle to produce quality video without excessive lighting, so I’m pretty impressed with what I’m seeing right now.

The low light correction is working pretty well, and it’s producing good quality video.

And here’s what it looks like with some decent lighting. I have my Diva Ring Light and the ceiling light on at the moment, and the video is really impressive, and it’s actually comparable to the quality of video you would expect from a high-end smartphone, in my opinion.

We have three field of view settings that you can play with. At the moment, it’s at 90 degrees, and now I’m going to switch it to 78 degrees, and I’ve also got 65 degrees as well. I like the option of being able to use these different fields of view to frame my videos and to get just different perspectives without losing quality of video.

The Logitech Camera Settings App is free, and it allows you to have some extra control over the video. You can manually adjust the brightness, contrast and colour intensity as well as the auto white balance just by sliding the sections here.

You’re also able to change the field of view from the camera app as well, just by changing the settings here. Now, I couldn’t possibly do a Logitech BRIO review without doing a comparison with the Logitech C920 side by side.

So you can see both of the footage right now, and you will be able to notice that the colour on the Logitech C920 is a little bit overexposed and the background starts to get a little bit washed out.

You can also notice how the field of view on the BRIO is much wider than on the Logitech C920. You can see much more of the background on the BRIO, and this is at 90 degrees, which is the automatic setting of the Logitech BRIO.

I do a deep dive review of the Logitech C920. I’ll link to it in the description and over there somewhere so you can check it out if you want. If you want to use the 4K capability on the BRIO, you will need a really powerful computer to be able to record seamlessly.

All of the system requirements are on the screen, and I’ve also linked to them in the description box below.

The microphone on the Logitech BRIO is okay in terms of built-in mics, but I always recommend using an external microphone. I use the R脴DE NT-USB as my external microphone to get crisp studio quality sound.

The Logitech BRIO is definitely an impressive webcam option if you’re looking for a high-quality video for live streaming video calls or creating online videos.

The depth of view, ability to zoom in without blur and overall beautiful quality of video makes it my recommendation as a worthwhile investment even if you’re not using the 4K capability.

Whilst the Logitech BRIO cost significantly more than the Logitech C920, it’s still cheaper than other 4K webcams on the market such as the AVer CAM340, which is about double the price of the BRIO at the time of this recording.

If you found this video useful, give me a thumbs up and don’t forget to subscribe to my channel. And if you’re looking for more ways to grow your business using online video, Facebook live is a great way to get started, but having an amazing 4K webcam is just one part of the equation.

You also need to figure out what to say, what equipment you need, and how to bring it all together in a cohesive strategy.

So I’ve put together a Facebook Live Cheat Sheet. It’s a super simple guide to get you up and streaming on Facebook live, even if you’ve never hit record before.
