Best Teleprompter App and Set up for iPhone – Video Transcript
Hello, and welcome to the live stream, whether you are joining live with us now, or if you’re catching me on the replay, I’m really glad that you could be here today. In today’s video, I’m going to be talking about what’s one of the best teleprompter apps and setups using your iPhone.
I’ve got some products, I’ve got some apps that I’m going to show you tonight, and I’m going to walk you through how it all how it all kind of comes together. I’m really glad, you know, to be able to present this to you tonight.
For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Sara Nguyen, and I help coaches, consultants and creative pros build their business using video on social media with ease. Now, please, whether you are live here on the chat, or if you’re watching the replay, if you have any questions, please drop them in the comment or in the chat, and I’ll answer them at the end of the live stream.
Let’s get right into it. Let’s get right into one of my, you know, favourite things to use, teleprompter. I get a lot of questions about when you create video should you use a teleprompter app or teleprompter or should you, script to script? Or should you go with bullet points?
And my answer to that is it really depends. It depends on, what’s easier for you to produce the content. I use a combination of both, so I like to create bullet points for my live streams and when it comes to the actual video that I record and upload, I find it easier to have a teleprompter so that I can, you know, pump through the video content faster when I’m batch producing.
The first, let’s have a look at one of my favourite products. This is right here, the Parrot Teleprompter App, right? And it is a neat little contraption here. I’m going to show you how it all kind of comes together. And this originally started as a Kickstarter, right?
It started as a little Kickstarter project where they got funded and then the project launched. And I love this little thing, because it seems so small, but it’s actually quite affordable and really high impact.
The way that it works is it attaches to your DSLR because it has these ring mounts, right? It has these ring mounts. And then what you do is they come in different sizes depending on your camera and lens size.
On your actual camera, you can see at the, let’s get this zoom action going, at the bottom of the camera there’s this like little symbol, and then the number 52 millimetres, and that’s the size of the actual lens.
And then with the parrot teleprompter app, you’ve then got like a ring Mount that you attach to it. I’m going to attach that to the camera first. You attached that to the camera first, and then you can actually attach the Mount to it, the teleprompter app thing to it.
Let’s just go ahead and do that. And that’s starting to come together, right? That’s the DSLR camera that’s now attached with my teleprompter and then it comes together in the final piece, and it comes together in the final piece where I add my actual iPhone to it.
I’m just going to attach my iPhone to it so you can see how it all comes out. Everything’s kind of being a bit weird tonight, but that’s okay. Okay. Let’s come together now. I’m going to now attach my, I’m just going to attach it before I show it to you.
I haven’t screwed it on properly. It’s kind of just fallen off of camera. For the record, that’s what I’m actually doing. Yes, there we go. I’ve got it to attach properly now, so it won’t actually fall off.
And then what you do is you then attach your iPhone to it. I’ve got my iPhone here and then I’m going to attach it on the ground first because they seem to be dropping everything today.
You attach your iPhone to it, and then this becomes your actual source of, there we go, information. There we go. Now you have the, your iPhone as the content, and then that’s showing through the camera. And then you can actually read the information as you’re recording the content.
That’s how it all kind of comes together. You’ve got your DSLR, you’ve got the parrot teleprompter app, and you’ve got your iPhone, which you actually use as the, you know, the device that provides the actual content to screen on to show the screen.
The other thing that the parrot teleprompter app has is that it has this remote, right? And with the remote, that allows you to do a couple of things. The teleprompter app, it can scroll automatically.
And we’ll have a look at the app in a minute. You can set it to scroll at a certain pace and you would read it at that pace. Otherwise, you could take the remote and then you could literally, it has buttons here as you are able to see where you can, come on, you can scroll through it manually, which is what I typically do.
I find that sometimes the pace of the teleprompter is a little bit, either too fast for me, or too slow. I like to manually control it with the remote, but that’s a really cool thing to kind of have.
And it’s this neat little package that I think is incredibly affordable these days, particularly given that how expensive teleprompters have been. They come down in price a lot, and this just makes it a really cute little portable thing that allows you to then have, you know, your teleprompter using your phone or your mobile mobile phone, whether that’s an iPhone or an Android to actually produce the content for you.
Let’s have a look at which apps would actually work with it. The parrot teleprompter app, let’s have a look at this here, it actually comes with a free app itself, so Parrot their own app.
And it looks like what you can see on the screen now. And with this actual app, you can see here, it’s quite basic, but you have the ability to, if you press the little plus icon here you can write the title and then you can copy and paste the script, right?
And then like you can either copy and paste this from whatever document that you’re using or you can import it. You can import it by clicking on that plus button, sorry, you can import it. Yes. I do want to exit.
You can import it if you have it connected to Dropbox, that’s one way that you can actually do it. You can connect to Dropbox and then bring in your files that way. The other things that you have control of is that scroll pace here.
you can scroll here to make it go faster or smaller. You can make the font little bit larger or smaller, depending on what you want. Then you’ve got a couple of other options here with the font colour, background colour, and the ability to have mirror mode, which is really handy, you know, if you’re using the teleprompter that way.
Let’s have a look at what the actual teleprompter would look like if it’s actually live. I’m going to switch over to horizontal mode, and this is what you would actually see through the teleprompter, right? This is some text here. And then if I press this play button, it will automatically scroll.
Otherwise, I can manually control it with the remote and pause it whenever I want. Or I can make it go faster or slower. That’s, you know, this is a pretty handy way of getting through the content and it’s really nice app that comes and it’s free and it all kind of works really well with the teleprompter app.
This is the, probably the first of the apps that I’d actually recommend. The actual one that is part of the whole, package with Parrot.
And that is their actual Parrot Teleprompter App as well. The second app that I would recommend, so I really love what Parrot had produced, but I just discovered recently, there’s this other cool app called Prompt Smart. And I like Prompt Smart for a couple of reasons.
Firstly, with Prompt Smart, they’re smart. Right? I found with the Parrot Teleprompter App, it’s definitely a great app. It definitely does the job, but the reason that I like Prompt Smart and they are a paid app is because it has voice tracking.
Instead of having to manually control it with the remote or struggle with, you know, either increasing the speed or decreasing the speed, the prompt smart app, it detects your voice and it can kind of it will stop and you’ll keep the pace of things going as you’re actually talking.
I’m going to actually show you how this works. I’m going to open up a script. I’m going to switch to horizontal mode and we’re going to press play. All right. Now I’m going to read and you will see how it’s going to start moving itself. How to create social media, a social media content calendar.
Are you currently using social media in your business, but kind of need help getting all of your different social media accounts, organised and streamlined? Well, in this video, I’m going to show you how to create social media content.
And what it does is if you pause, it will pause, right? If you make a mistake or if you go off script, it will wait for you, which is pretty handy. Okay. Let’s just pause. I’m going to press play again. One of the biggest challenges I hear from my clients is that they find social media very overwhelming.
They don’t know what to post, when to post and how often to post. Let, let alone dealing with the crazy number of social media accounts they have. I’m going to pause now, and as you can see, it stopped because it’s waiting for me to catch up.
Here’s where creating a social media content calendar helps allowing you to comprehend exactly what you need to do. It moves itself. I’m not actually moving it. It’s smart, it’s got voice tracking and we’ll just continue to run through, as you can see, I’m rambling and it’s like, she’s not sticking to the script, but it’s going to wait for me.
And then when I start again, I use Google docs to create a month view of my social media content calendar, putting it on Google docs also allows me to share it with my team. I really love how smart it is.
And it is a time saver definitely as a time-saver. Absolutely love the ability to do that with these apps. These are the two apps that I definitely recommend. The free one that comes with the parrot teleprompter app and this, the Prompt Smart one.
It’s definitely really smart. Really, really loved these two options. I think when it comes to teleprompters and, you know, should you use it? Shouldn’t you use it, it really comes down to, does it make life easier for you?
Does it help you produce content faster? And, you know, I think in terms of sounding natural with the teleprompter, it all comes down to practice. It all comes down to you knowing your content and then, you know, being able to read through the content and getting better with it over time.
If you are looking to use a teleprompter, highly recommend the combo that I’ve presented today, the Parrot Teleprompter App, or Parrot teleprompter that comes with the Parrot Teleprompter App and alternatively in terms of apps, the Prompt Smart because it is a smart app indeed. That essentially wraps up today’s live stream.
